NHMS News Update – 8-14-20

WE MISS YOU. We hope you and your families have had an amazing summer. We are fast approaching the start of a new school year. There is a lot of information to share. Please take a moment to look over the items listed here and please take a moment to fill out the short form listed in the item below.

Student Devices Update- For virtual instruction this fall, each student will need access to an individual device for the entirety of the school day.  As you may have heard, Harford County Public Schools have ordered 27,000 Chrome Books for students K-8.  We heard back this week that approximately half of the computers will be delayed until approximately October.  For the half we are planning on receiving this month, we will only be able to distribute a Chrome Book to parents at North Harford Middle school who opt-in based on need.  If you need a device for the first round of distribution because your child does not have access to one, please complete the link below to a Microsoft Form. (Remember – most devices will work – a Chrome Book is not specifically needed).

Please complete this form by Thursday, August 20th at 10:00 am if you do not have a device your child can use. (If this link does not work, please copy and paste it into your browser).

Save the date for pickup of materials: These are the dates when student materials will be available for pickup. These materials include textbooks, folders with important forms and devices for those who need them.

Monday   Aug 31     from 8 am -3 pm and from 5pm -7 pm

Tuesday Sept 1        from 8 am -3 pm

Wednesday Sept 2  from 8 am -3 pm and from 5pm -7 pm

Thursday Sept 3      from 8 am -3 pm

School Supplies List – We have attached a basic school supplies list for the virtual learning environment for the start of the 2020-2021 school year.  This list is also posted further down this page.

Office Hours and Contact – The NHMS Main Office hours starting on August 17 will be from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm. Please be advised that we will be staffing our offices and telephones but that not all staff may be in the office every day – but may be working from other locations. It is a good idea to call ahead so that we can serve you as efficiently as possible. The school telephone number is 410-638-3658. School Offices are closed August 21.

School Schedule – We have attached the school schedule for the 1st semester of the 2020-2021 school year. Please note that the lunch period is the same at all levels throughout HCPS.  This schedule is also posted further down this page.

Student Schedules will be released August 28th on HAC and will be available in a paper copy during materials distribution.

If you have completed the survey for your student to attend a Learning Support Center, you should receive confirmation of enrollment approximately August 20th.  For any parent who wishes to enroll their child in the Learning Support Center, we have started a wait list at each building.  Please contact Ms. Christine Kelly at Christine.Kelly@hcps.org  if you wish for your student to be placed on the wait list.

Please continue to take care of yourselves and have a great and safe remainder of the summer. We face a lot of new challenges this year and look forward to serving the amazing families of our North Harford community.
